8.21.13 1SC & SCeC Release

Google Analytics Update

a.What is it? – Google Analytics allows users to measure their website analytics. Our existing integration was many years out of date and did not support the latest tracking that Google provides, most importantly the ability to measure Ecommerce orders, conversion rates, revenue, etc.

b.Why did we do it? – This was a top 10 request in our user voice forum and customers complained that 1) It did not support Ecommerce tracking 2) It wasn’t using the most recent tracking script from Google 3) The tracking script did not work properly for button cart users without a complex configuration and 4) It did not allow for tracking of Upsell Express funnels, causing lost visibility for many purchases and conversion.

2.       Lower Email Volume Limits

a.What is it? – We enforce email volume limits for our stores customers on all packages and these limits have been lowered.

b.Why did we do it? – We were giving away too many credits for free, leading to large volume mailers abusing the system and using too many system resources compared to how much they were paying. We lowered the limits so that the overage fess ($0.001 per 1000 emails) kick in earlier and we begin to generate more revenue from high volume mailers.

3.       Consolidate Blacklist Tools

a.What is it? – We offer a feature that allows merchants to blacklist email addresses, IP addresses and credit card numbers to prevent orders from being processed from specific IP’s, Email addresses or credit card numbers. We consolidated all three blacklists into a single menu item (down from 3) and also extend the functionality to web forms. We also included new instructional copy to these pages to explain how users can use these options.

b.      Why did we do it? – We implemented the changes to consolidate the blacklist items into a single menu item to reduce clutter in the user interface and combined common functionality into a single page. We extended the functionality to also work with web forms in order to give users the ability to block fraudulent signups to their email marketing lists. We did this because we have had many users complain through Support, Social Media and user voice that their mailing lists are being filled up with spam signups and we wanted to provide them with some control to prevent this from happening.

4.       Duplicate Autoresponder

a.       What is it? – We added an option to the Autoresponders module that allows a user to duplicate an entire Autoresponder series, including all related messages with a single click.

b.      Why did we do it? – We did this in order to reduce the amount of effort it takes to duplicate an Autoresponder series. Previously users would have had to manually copy each individual message which was time consuming, especially in cases where the Autoresponder series contained many messages. This was also a hot request in user voice recently.

5.       Setup Wizard Changes

a.       What is it? – We made a few tweaks to the Store Setup Wizard experience including 1) Placing new users directly into the first step instead of the dashboard 2) Remove the “placeholder text” in the products step 3) Adding a “Reminder Me Later” button 4) Adding an “Are you sure?” dialog when the user clicks on “Skip Wizard” 5) begin logging the store type selection (button cart vs. store) and 6) logging the number of people who skip the wizard or click remind me later.

b.      Why did we do it? – These changes were all made in an attempt to improve the number of users who start and complete the wizard as well as introduce new tracking so that we can better understand drop out points in the wizard and what types of stores users are selecting to build.

6.       Master Template Preview

a.       What is it? – When a user is editing their store template they can see a preview by clicking on the preview tab. We implemented some changes to how the preview is generated in order to speed up the preview generation.

b.      Why did we do it? – We made this change in order to speed up the preview generation so the user can flip back and forth between the preview and the design mode faster.
